About US

Weekend Students Group (WSG) is an independent student-led initiative created to support students and graduates affected by recent Student Finance England decisions regarding the classification of weekend-based university courses.

Our group was formed in response to the growing number of students who have experienced financial uncertainty, funding disruption, and repayment demands linked to the reclassification of weekend study as distance learning. Many affected students completed their studies in good faith, based on funding approved over multiple academic years, without any indication that their eligibility may later be questioned.

WSG exists to provide a united voice for students impacted by these developments.

We aim to:

  • Support affected students through information sharing and guidance
  • Raise awareness of the impact these decisions have on individuals and families
  • Encourage transparency, fairness, and accountability
  • Connect students facing similar issues across different universities
  • Provide a platform for collective communication and representation
  • Share relevant legislation, official updates, and public information

Our group is committed to respectful and responsible engagement. We understand that many students are experiencing stress, uncertainty, and financial concern, and we believe no student should face these challenges alone.

WSG is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. However, we work to help students access reliable information, understand their situation, and stay informed about ongoing developments involving universities, Student Finance England, and government bodies.

We believe students deserve:

  • Clear communication
  • Fair treatment
  • Proper support
  • Protection from retrospective financial consequences arising from administrative or regulatory disputes

As our community grows, we hope to continue building a supportive network where affected students can stay informed, share experiences, and contribute to constructive solutions.

If you have been affected and would like to join or support the group, we encourage you to register through our website or contact us directly.
